Still Kickin’ on Route 66
Interstate Billboard (48’ x 14’)
One of a series of billboards designed for the City of Gallup. We took the old 50’s postcard concept (now very much overdone) of a place name done in big bubbly letters and filled with local color, but instead of filling the letters, we wanted to show that the landscapes of the southwest could not be contained. This original illustration is based closely on a famous piece of neon artwork hanging outside The Gallup Chamber of Commerce and embodies the classic freedom of the open road.
